IAEI held a Workshop "Teaching Macroeconomics From Islamic Perspectives"

The Association of Indonesian Islamic Economists (IAEI) in collaboration with IPB University, The International Federation of Islamic Economics and Finance Education (I-FIEFE) and The Center for Islamic Economics (CIE) held a Workshop "Teaching Macroeconomics From Islamic Perspectives" on 25-26 January 2023 at the IPB International Convention Center. The event was opened by the Director of The International Institute of Islamic Thought for East and Southeast Asia (IIIT-SEA), Prof. Dr. Mohamad Fauzan Noordin, Director of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Center of Islamic Economics (CIE), Prof. Dr. Norma Md Saad, and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Prof. Dr. Ir. R. Nunung Nuryartono, M.Sc.

The event continued with a keynote speech from the Vice Chairperson of IAEI, Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik. Dr. Irfan said that it was very important to improve the quality of policies and the economic framework. Especially when faced with global uncertainty, macroeconomic policies from an Islamic perspective are very important to become policy solutions and macroeconomic frameworks. "This platform workshop aims to contribute to the development of Islamic macroeconomics," said Dr. Irfan.

This workshop also invited one of the Professors of the Department of Islamic Economics, Prof. Dr. Raditya Sukmana to share the framework of the Macroeconomic curriculum taught to Airlangga University students. "The aim of this course is for students to understand macroeconomic concepts from an Islamic perspective," concluded Prof. Raditya.

One of the founders and figures of the national Islamic Economy, Dr. Suherman Rosyidi also received an invitation to attend the workshop. He explained in his presentation that Purchasing Power Economics is Economics in an Islamic perspective. "Purchasing power economics is what we have to teach students, not production economics," he concluded.
